What will Sierra do? Let's find out!

I walked back to my apartment in a daze. But thankfully, this time there was no rain. I turned the key in the lock and opened the door to step into my apartment. As I got my shoes off, I kept replaying the entire scene with Ryan over and over again. Was he for real? As I made my way into the living room, I was greeted with the sight of Lillian sprawled out on the couch watching some mystery show on the TV. She was so engrossed that she hadn’t even heard me come into the house.

When Lillian watched her shows, even if the world turned over outside, she wouldn’t have a clue. But I wouldn’t let her rest in peace. After all, it was her fault that now I had to go meet Ryan for coffee tomorrow. She had abandoned me in time of need. She was a horrible best friend. It’s not that I didn’t want to go. It’s just that I didn’t want to be embarrassed. But from what I had gathered up until now, Ryan was a good person. I hope he wouldn’t make fun of my shy and introvert nature. But the thought of us being alone for a few hours was enough for me to break into a sweat.

If a conversation that went on for just fifteen to twenty minutes had left me in such a dazed and speechless state, imagine what could happen at tomorrow’s da- I mean meeting. I huffed angrily and walked over to Lillian, snatched the remote and turned off the TV. I was met with a whiny “hey!” from Lilly, but she quickly recovered and sat up straight with a big smile on her face.

“You’re back! What happened? How did it go? What did you talk about? Did he kiss you? Are you going to get married now?!!”

She looked like she was about to burst out of excitement. I just shook my head with a defeated sigh and sat down on the couch beside her. Lilly could be so melodramatic sometimes. Rather, all the time.

“He asked me to go for Coffee with him tomorrow.” I answered softly.

Lilly squealed “Oh My God! Really? That’s amazing!”

I swatted her on her arm “Keep it down Lilly! You’ll disturb the neighbours. And what are you squealing about! You left me there! Alone!” I looked at her accusingly.

Lilly just started giggling like a maniac. “You should have seen you face, Si! You looked ready to shoot me!” But then she quickly sobered up and smiled. “But you needed the alone time, to get things sorted. Am I right?” she asked with a sly smile.

I sighed “I guess.” I answered reluctantly. She was right. If Lilly hadn’t left, Ryan and I could not have cleared Saturday’s misunderstanding. She had actually helped me. But I would never tell her that!

“But what now, Lilly? He’ll come to the library at six to pick me up tomorrow! What will I wear? What will I do? What if he hates me? What if he thinks I’m a dumb idiot?!” I started panicking. Oh lord! Why had I agreed to it?

“Calm down Sierra! Everything is going to be fine! You survived today, right? You’ll survive tomorrow as well! Everything is going to be fabulous. I promise.” Lilly assured me.

After an hour of me panicking and Lilly trying to handle the situation, we decided that I would wear the outfit I had chosen out for our dat-meeting on Saturday that I had missed. All the panicking had sucked out all my energy. So I dragged myself up the stairs and threw myself on the bed. Tomorrow was going to be the real deal. All this thinking had me exhausted.

So I slowly drifted off to sleep.
